Opposition’s shadow Minister Muwada tasks US-elect President Trump on government’s excess on citizens.

Foreign Affairs shadow minister Muwada Nkunyingi wants Donald Trump to whip Uganda's Government for excesses on the citizenry and breach of democratic practices


In his address to the media at parliament Muwada said that Ugandans seek from the incoming US president for human rights protection and observance in the country, noting that Trump is returning as the president when some Ugandans are still in military detention.


Muwada who is also a member of parliament for Kyadondo East said that the US can partner with Ugandan people to have democratic space in the country.


“As the people of Uganda ,we look towards continued partnership with the USA in our pursuit for rule of law and democratic values, including our pursuit for human rights protection and observance in this country ,president trump returns as the president at the time when Ugandans are demanding for fair treatment within their country ,” said Muwada .


He stated that “many are still in military detention,our trust in judicial system has over the years reduced ,in our call and pursuit the democracy and rule of law be given space ,we must see realistic separation of power in the country in our pursuit for democratic change in this country,”


He also called for inquiry and audit into the operations of Uganda’s foreign Affairs sector where its staff and ambassadors exhibiting unwanted behaviors .


“Uganda’s diplomatic representation has also degenerated for the last four years,in the past one year various Uganda’s ambassadors being declared various host countries,some concerning cases involved the recall and expulsion of Uganda Ambassador to Canada,recall of Uganda’s deputy ambassador to UAE and foreign service staff and several Ugandans diplomats,as we speak today are under investigations,including the line minister of Foreign Affairs for Uganda. This trend is alarming and necessitates a detailed inquiry on the entire operations of the sector of Foreign Affairs, something must be wrong,” said Muwada.
